How to Prep for Your Facial or Sugaring Appointment

Prepping starts with a little peace
Prepping starts with a little peace

Here’s everything you need to know before your appointment:

For All Appointments

Regardless of the service you’re receiving, here are a few universal tips to help you prep:

  • Stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water and moisturizing regularly helps your skin respond better to treatment.
  • Arrive with clean skin. Skip heavy makeup, lotions, or deodorants on the treatment area.
  • Pause active ingredients. Retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and exfoliating treatments should be avoided for 3–5 days before your visit.
  • Check in if anything changes. New medications, breakouts, or sensitivities? Let me know ahead of time so I can adjust your care plan.

🍯 If You’re Booked for Sugaring

Sugaring is gentle, but still a form of hair removal, prepping properly makes all the difference in how your skin feels afterward.

  • Hair should be about ¼ inch long (usually 2–3 weeks of growth)
  • Avoid shaving, waxing, or using depilatories beforehand
  • Wear loose, breathable clothing if you’re getting a Brazilian or underarm treatment
  • Skip caffeine or alcohol the day of, which can heighten skin sensitivity
  • Gently exfoliate 24–48 hours before (not the day of) to help prevent ingrown hairs

🌿 If You’re Booked for a Facial

Facials at Ryane Ashley are completely customized to your skin, your goals, and what you’re experiencing today. To help us get the most out of your time:
  • Avoid exfoliating or shaving 48 hours prior
  • Skip intense workouts the day of (this helps prevent post-facial congestion)
  • Don’t book right before a major event; some treatments may cause temporary redness or purging
  • Come with a sense of what’s been working (or not working) in your routine, we’ll talk through it together

Final Note

If you’re ever unsure what to do, or not do, before your visit, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Your comfort and results are always the priority. This is your time to feel cared for.
