What Is Brazilian Sugaring

Brazilian sugaring removes all or most of the hair in the pubic area using a paste made of sugar, lemon, and water. No wax, no strips, no resins. The paste is applied by hand and removed in the direction of hair growth, which makes it gentler on the skin than traditional waxing and less likely to cause irritation, ingrown hairs, or trauma to the follicle.

How to Prep for Your Appointment

The most important thing is hair length. Your hair needs to be at least a quarter inch long, roughly the size of a grain of rice, for the sugar paste to grip properly. If you have been shaving, stop about two to three weeks before your appointment.

A few other things to keep in mind:

Exfoliate gently at least two days before your appointment, not the day of. Come in with clean, dry skin and skip any lotions or oils on the area the day of your visit. Wear loose, comfortable clothing if you can, something breathable that won't irritate the skin after.

If you are on your cycle, you can still come in. That is entirely your call and your comfort level.

What Happens During Your Appointment

Your esthetician will walk you through the process before anything starts. You will be asked about your skin, any sensitivities, and whether you have sugared or waxed before. First-time clients always get a full explanation of what is happening and why.

The paste is applied at body temperature, so there is no risk of burns. It is worked into the hair and then flicked off in small sections. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick snap, less intense than waxing and much shorter in duration per pull.

The appointment typically takes 30 to 45 minutes for a full Brazilian depending on hair density and how your skin responds.

What to Expect After

Some redness and sensitivity in the first 24 to 48 hours is completely normal. Avoid hot showers, saunas, tight clothing, and working out for at least 24 hours after your appointment. Skip any active skincare ingredients like retinol or exfoliants on the area for a few days.

The results typically last three to five weeks depending on your hair growth cycle. Most clients book their follow-up before they leave.

Why Clients Come Back

After consistent appointments, most clients notice that their hair grows back finer, sparser, and easier to remove each time. The skin also tends to be less reactive as it adjusts to the sugaring process. The first appointment is usually the most intense, and it gets easier from there.
